Concerns over the proposed reform of the heritage law

What should be improved in Bill 69, by which the Quebec government intends to review its heritage law? From the outset, the Union of Quebec Municipalities (UMQ) rejected the idea that additional control could be exercised through the regional county municipalities (MRCs), while the Fédération québécoise des municipalities (FQM) accepts, on the contrary, the interest of the measure, provided however that it is accompanied by more means. Established bodies dedicated to the protection of heritage also consider that the controls planned on municipalities are in fact insufficient for the situation to really change.
