The Saint-Pierre-de-La Vernière church is getting a makeover

The church of Saint-Pierre-de-La Vernière, in the Magdalen Islands, is currently undergoing a makeover that will restore it to its pristine luster of yesteryear. Since mid-June, major work has been underway to restore the exterior cladding of the building nicknamed the Cathedral of the Islands, one of the most imposing wooden churches in America.

Churchwardens Lionel Bourgeois and Benoit Lapierre are delighted that the restoration process has begun, after more than seven years of preparatory work.
