Victor Bourgeau. A bishop and his architect

News - June 8th, 2020

It’s with the exhibition Victor Bourgeau. A bishop and his architect that the Musée des Hospitalières at the Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal will reopen to the public on Saturday, June 13.

Architect having exercised a real monopoly in the diocese of Montreal under the episcopate of Mgr Ignace Bourget (1799-1885), Victor Bourgeau contributed to shaping Montreal by erecting large conventual complexes such as the Hôtel-Dieu for the Hospitalières de Saint Joseph or the convent of the Gray Nuns.

The exhibition is the first major retrospective of his work.
