Ursulines' exceptional collection of paintings
The Musée de la Civilisation de Québec and the Pôle culturel des Ursulines present on Facebook, this Wednesday, April 8, at 3 p.m., a free conference on the Ursulines of Québec collection of paintings.
Mr. Vincent Giguère, curator at the Musée de la Civilisation de Québec and member of the Movable Property and Works of Art Committee of the Quebec Religious Heritage Council, will interpret some paintings of the collection to explore the visual culture of the Ursulines, modeled and reshaped over several centuries.
The Ursulines' collection of paintings is one of the most valuable in Canada. Purchases, donations and works painted by the nuns themselves - the collection contains a few hundred items, some of which date from the 17th century.
