Announcement of a Ministerial Strategy
Montréal
The Minister of Culture, Communications and the Status of Women, Christine St-Pierre, announced that her ministry has initiated the development of a strategy to develop a clear and shared vision for the Quebec's religious heritage.
"This necessary strategy follows the observation that the sustainability of the religious heritage is a major issue, since many important places of worship, often located in the heart of towns and villages, and even some convents, are threatened. We need to facilitate their conversion, if necessary, and help them find new uses in a sustainable development approach, "said Minister Christine St-Pierre.
"We are in a situation where some places were a building that was once considered religious heritage, that is to say, devoted to worship, is now becoming a cultural heritage," added the minister.
