CONSULTATION
By appointment only, on Mondays and Tuesdays, from 10 am to noon, and from 1 to 4 p.m (closed on the last week of May, of June, of September, and of December). Charges apply for some services. The Diocesan Archives does not allow pages of parish registers to be photocopied, photographed or scanned. The Diocesan Archives reserves the right to refuse access to particular documents.
BRIEF HISTORY
The Anglican Diocese of Ottawa Archives was founded in 1946. It contains records of Anglican clergy and congregations in western Quebec and eastern Ontario dating back to the 1780s. In the 1990s the Wilfred H. Bradley Reference Library began to collect books and pamphlets relating to Anglicanism and local history in the territory within the boundaries of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa.
DESCRIPTION Of FONDS AND COLLECTIONS
For the Diocese: Bishops' papers, committee minutes, newspapers, books, clergy files, synod circulars, community ministries records.
For individual parishes and churches: parish registers, vestry reports, service registers, records of committees and organizations including minutes and statistical records, financial records, property documents, maps, architectural plans, pew bulletins, correspondence, parish newsletters, historiographical information, photographs, guest books, special collections, scrapbooks.
Other collections : Unique documents, rare books, early maps, rare manuscripts, silver, portraits.
